Amid the present unrest in Manipur since May 3, around 300 terrorists from Myanmar, including ‘lungi clad’, have entered Indian territory in Manipur, according to retired Lieutenant General L Nishikanta Singh.
“About 300 terrorist including lungi clad ones from Myanmar have entered India (Manipur) and creating mayhem. Burned 450 houses in Sherou and Sugnu villages in South Manipur. 80-year-old burnt to death as well. Security forces appears to be bewildered by the ferocity of attack by these Myanmar-based Kuki terrorists with support from their counterparts who were already in Manipur. @narendramodi @blsanthosh @JPNadda @AmitShahOffice @adgpi @rajnathsingh,”(sic) he tweeted on May 30.
On Monday (June 29), the retired senior Army officer further tweeted, “Today the Chin-Kuki terrorists burned down a few civilian homes near Leimakhong Military station. This is very serious, as these Kuki-Chin terrorists are not scared of the ADGPI – Indian Army and daring to challenge the army to engage them. @narendramodi @AmitShah @AmitShahOffice”. (sic)
Coincidentally, there have been reports that men armed with sophisticated weapons have been in the valley districts as well as in some parts of hills nearby.
On Tuesday morning, a civilian was hospitalised as he was reportedly shot in his back, suspected to be by a sniper, piercing his chest. A simultaneous attack occurred during the wee hours of Sunday in different locations in the periphery area of Manipur, including Sugnu, Phayeng, Yaingangpokpi and others, according to sources.
According to reliable sources, the attack towards the valley people is not carried not only by license guns but Community Defense Force (CDF), a Myanmar based militants, and the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) are also involved by using sophisticated weapons, including long range sniper.
